2.   Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

 

The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.

 

The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.

 

The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.

 

The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

 

3.  Key Responsibilities

a.    Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.

b.    Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.

c.    Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand the knowledge base.

d.    Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.

e.    Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.

f.     Holding administrative duties for the department and Kulliyyah.

g.    Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.

h.    Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.

i.      Providing support to students and other colleagues.

j.      Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.

     k.    Designing and developing money generating modules and programmes for the department. 

4 Minimum Qualifications

       Bachelor's degree in Marketing from a well-recognised institution.

       Master’s degree in Marketing from a well-recognised institution.

       Optional: PhD’s degree in Management from a well-recognised institution.

       Previous teaching experience related to Marketing.

       Professional certificates related to Marketing would be advantageous.

       Previous administrative experience and duties for the department, faculty or university would be advantageous.

       Alternative to teaching experience (academician), industry/working experience in Management-related occupations is also accepted.

 
5 Minimum Competencies

             Candidates with industry experience are highly encouraged to apply

       Demonstrated experience in academic excellence

       Ability to work well in an academic environment, including collaboration with colleagues and contributing to the institution’s academic goals

       Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills

       Commitment to perform administrative duties

       Proficiency in essential software such as Excel for data management, analysis, and presentation

       Knowledge or experience with HRIS, SAP ERP, Power BI or other HR analytics tools are added advantage

       Strong digital literacy and effective use of educational technologies, including Learning Management Systems, multimedia tools and online communication platforms to enhance teaching and learning

       Effective communication and instructional skills to engage with diverse student populations

       Collaborative skills to work effectively with colleagues and contribute to academic initiatives

       Ability to inspire students and colleagues with passion

       Flexible, resilience, and willingness to work for long hours and beyond standard duties

       Resourceful and dedicated team player


6. Language Qualifications 

All candidates must have obtained:-
 
a.  Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
 
b.  IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.  Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
