2. ScopeThe officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.
The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).
3. Key Responsibilities
a. Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
b. Supervising students during clinical sessions to ensure they follow proper procedures and protocols.
c. Organizing and supervising student participation in community engagement activities.
d. Developing educational materials such as brochures, posters, and videos to support the community engagement program.
e. Developing curricular and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.
f. Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
g. Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
h. Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
i. Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
j. Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
k. Providing support to students and other colleagues.
l. Monitoring and providing support to students in both theoretical and clinical settings.
m. Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
n. Performing and assisting in clinical teaching and training for students.
o. Providing clinical treatment and case managements in the discipline of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at Kulliyyah of Dentistry and Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @ IIUM
p. Involved in OMFS related clinical on-call services at IIUM teaching hospital, Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre.
4. Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry.
- Candidates must have experience of at least 3 years minimum in the field clinical dentistry services.
- Candidates possessing MJDF, MFDS or equivalent type of dental qualification certificates would be an advantageous but not a critical necessity.
- Published work would be advantageous.

All candidates must have obtained:-a. Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
b. IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
