2.  
Scope 

 

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he/she is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

 

The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his/her duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.

 

The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he/she, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.

The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.

The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

 
3.   Key Responsibilities

a.   Design and develop, or update, and deliver teaching materials to students using a range of methods and
      platforms.
b.   Monitor students’ performance and attendance.
c.   Develop, administer, and grade assessments on students.
d.   Supervise undergraduate or postgraduate students in research, community, and/or clinical activities.
e.   Contribute to the development/review, planning, and implementation of curriculum.
f.    Conduct research and produce publications or other research outputs.
g.   Apply for research funding support.
h.   Establish and maintain network/collaboration with other institutions, as well as with industrial, commercial, or
      public organizations, for research or professional purposes.
i.    Attend workshops/seminars/conferences for continuous professional development or improvement.
j.    Participate in working groups or committees at the department, Kulliyyah, university, national, or international
     levels.
k.   Uphold the university’s philosophy, vision, mission, and educational goals at all times
 
4.    Minimum Qualifications 
    • Master in any of the following fields: Physiotherapy/Physical therapy in Cardiorespiratory, Neurology, Men’s/Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Spinal Rehabilitation, or any relevant field from any international or local institutions of higher learning recognised by the Government or equivalent.
    • A Bachelors’ Degree in Physiotherapy from any international or local institutions of higher learning recognised by the Government or equivalent.
    • Published work would be advantageous.

5.    Minimum Competencies
  • Ample and suitable experience as registered physiotherapy/academician to train students in physiotherapy field.
  • Ability to inspire students with your passion.
  • Committed and dedicated to work.
  • Possess high degree of integrity.
  • Has high level of motivation, discipline and pleasant personality.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills, and able to work in a team.
  • Open minded and positive attitude.
  • Applicants should be Malaysian citizens.
  • Membership in any relevant governmental body/ Non-Governmental Organization would be advantageous.

  6.   Language Qualifications

 All candidates must have obtained:

a.   Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia 
      
(SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).

b.  IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.
     Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language
     Proficiency Test.
